Janet Jackson Cartoon Portrait Series

A series of portraits of Janet Jackson that began as a six portrait celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Rhythm Nation 1814 album and short film project. It eventually grew to 40+ portraits of Janet throughout her entire legendary career.

These portraits were created as vector art, using Adobe Illustrator.

This playful POP Portrait illustration series is where the nobility of the Grecian bust meets the awkward whimsy of school picture day and the fun of Saturday morning cartoons. Celebrating some of the greatest names in popular music and entertainment.

Original Origins
A passion project started back in 1995, I’d already made over 100 illustrations of Janet from different eras of her career in tribute to everything she had accomplished as an artist. Members of Janet’s loyal fan base have embraced the art, with some even transforming their favorites into custom fashion pieces, digital wallpapers, and even tattoos.

One of my tribute pieces was included in the 2022 Janet Jackson documentary on Lifetime Television & A&E. The episode 4 segment was part of a montage of social media support for Janet leading up to her 2019 induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the creation of Janet Jackson Appreciation Day. Executive produced by Janet Jackson and Randy Jackson, the entire 4-part documentary is available to watch online.

While these unique portraits showcase Janet’s immense talent, they also serve as a powerful reminder of her lasting impact on the world of entertainment and beyond.
